Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy has reported that the situation at the border has continued getting worse which is why Republicans are so set on opposing the expiration of Title 42. Previously, a Republican-led amendment would allow Title 42 to be included as part of the omnibus bill. However, the amendment failed to make it onto the bill.

Texas Republican Rep. Pat Fallon has already filed impeachment articles against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, delivering on a promise that he had made before the 118th Congress was officially sworn in. Mayorkas had been central to the Republican party’s criticisms over the border crisis. There have been many Republican lawmakers who had previously called for both Mayorkas’s resignation as well as for him to be impeached.

The impeachment articles against Mayorkas are for “high crimes and misdemeanors,” commonly referred to as House Resolution 8. Since Fallon brought the charges forth they have been referred to the House Judiciary Committee.

This is one of the first steps that the GOP House majority has taken in order to fight Biden on border and immigration topics.

In a statement given to Fox News, Fallon said that Secretary Mayorkas throughout his time in his position has completely failed and undermined law enforcement activities that are necessary for the border to remain secure. He added that Mayorkas continuously undermined law enforcement officers and border patrol officers, essentially dissuading them from conducting their job. This is why he believes Mayorkas should not be allowed to lead the Department of Homeland Security any longer.
