(FeaturedNews.com) – Retired Seattle Teacher Michael McSweeney, 71, sent a letter to students in which he is begging for forgiveness while also blasting Congress and the Supreme Court for not taking the necessary steps to protect the country from a second possible Trump presidency.Â
In his letter, which was written in an op-ed for the News Tribune, a Washington-based newspaper he argued that he had lied to the kids that he had taught from 1974 to 2017. As he argued, he had previously told students that Congress and the Supreme Court were there to ensure that no one dangerous or bad would be elected to office and that they would make sure to remove that person from office before they could cause a lot of trouble.Â
He notes that while it had not been his intention to lie to his students, it has now become clear to him that he has lied, which is why he is begging for their forgiveness.Â
The Supreme Court’s recent immunity ruling grants the president significant protection related to his actions during his time in office.Â
However, McSweeney in the op-ed argued that he has lost trust in the ways that Americans balance and check things following the 2017 Trump administration. He also argued that the Supreme Court and lawmakers from both sides had failed to protect Americans from someone he perceived to be an “evil and dangerous” candidate. He adds that the reason he had lied is because he had never thought it possible that someone as dangerous as Trump would ever be elected to office, or that there would be so many ignorant Congress members elected at the same time.Â
