Teacher Recorded Yelling at Kids
A Florida teacher was caught on video yelling at a student who did not stand during the Pledge of Allegiance of the United States.
The video gained 1.4 million views on TikTok soon after it was posted on Thursday. In the video, the teacher can be seen verbally attacking the seated student. According to reports, the teacher’s name was Robert Reiber, and he is an art teacher at Manatee High School in Bradenton, Florida.
A student under the username of @scobbydooo1 captured and posted the clip online, noting that this is what their teacher said after their friend did not stand for the pledge of allegiance.
In the footage, Reiber can be heard yelling, “You are gonna sit there on your butt!”
The comments continued with Reiber noting that the student shouldn’t shake their leg and that, “If you want to do something, get up and do it. I will defend my country til the very end.”
The student quietly replied that they wouldn’t hurt the teacher, to which the teacher replied, “where are you from? Mexico or Guatemala, where?” The student continued by saying that they were born in the United States, to which Reiber didn’t seem to believe, considering their unwillingness to stand for the pledge of allegiance.
Mike Barber, Communications Director for the Manatee County Schools District, noted that after the video, the teacher was “removed from the school” following the incident, but that they had not been fired. Currently, the Office of Professional Standards is investigating the incident to see how to deal with it according to both the district’s and school’s policies.
