The midterm election cycle led to many failures and successes for both the Democratic and Republican parties. With a new Congress set to convene early next year, control of Congress will be divided with the Democrats maintaining their control of the Senate while the Republicans will be in control of the House.

Fox News Digital recently reported on who they viewed as the biggest losers of the 2022 midterm elections.

1. Stacey Abrams

Stacey Abrams was once again unsuccessful in her bid to become the governor of Georgia. What earned her the nickname “superstar loser” from The Atlantic was the fact that this time she lost against Gov. Brian Kemp by 7.5 percentage points. What’s more, despite her extensive fundraising her campaign still owes vendors $1 million according to an Axios report.

Despite her loss to Kemp, Abrams has said that she would still consider running again for office.

2. Beto O’Rourke

Beto O’Rourke failed to win his gubernatorial campaign against Republican Gov. Greg Abbott. He lost the race by 11 points despite having spent $80 million on his gubernatorial run.

3. Donald Trump

Former President Trump, who launched his presidential campaign for 2024 shortly after the midterm elections is considered one of the biggest losers of the midterm elections. While Trump was not on any ballot many of the candidates he backed failed to win their competitive races. This helped loosen the grip he has over the Republican party as many are blaming him for choosing low-quality candidates that could not win their elections.
