Trump’s Chances of Winning in 2024
Former President Donald Trump has officially launched his presidential campaign for 2024. Many leading betting sites are now calculating the odds of Trump winning the next presidential election.
While in the U.S. it is illegal for people to place bids on political elections, the European website EmpireStakes.com has indicated that Trump has an “implied probability” of 25 percent of winning the next presidential election. In comparison, President Joe Biden has around 18.2 percent. Ever since last year, bets on Trump have remained at around 3-to-1 odds. While Biden’s odds have increased from 5-to-1 to 6-to-1.
Following months of speculation and teasing, former President Trump announced his third bid for the White House on Tuesday night. This announcement had been teased since the eve of the midterm election day, as Trump had noted that he would be making a “big announcement” on November 15. In choosing that day, he had also added that he did not want any attention to be taken away from the midterms.
In a November 3rd Iowa rally, Trump had said that he had run and won twice. This references his continued unfounded allegations that the 2020 election was “stolen”. He also added that in 2020 he had gotten millions more votes than he had in 2016. He concluded that he would probably try once again in order to help make the country “successful, and safe”.
Republican strategist Jay Townsend had said ahead of the formal announcement that the only thing that would be shocking is “Trump deciding not to run.”
