
(FeaturedNews.com) – On Sunday, Chuck Schumer, the Senate Majority Leader stated that he along with other members of a bipartisan delegation of senators were required to take shelter in Tel Aviv following the attack launched by Hamas. The Palestinian militant group had fired a number of rockets while the U.S. Senators were preparing for a meeting with Israeli leaders.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Schumer, D-N.Y., shared a photo of him along with other Senators including Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah in the shelter. As he wrote during their time in Tel Aviv the delegation was guided to a shelter where they waited following the rockets fired by Hamas. He added that this shows what Israel is forced to go through and added that the country should be given all the necessary U.S. support in order to defend itself.
Schumer is the highest-ranking Jewish elected official and he was leading a group of senators which included Romney, Bill Cassidy (R), Jacky Rosen (D), and Mark Kelly (D) in Israel.
In regards to the meeting between the Senators and the Israeli leaders, Schumer stated that they had a productive meeting. The Israeli leaders present in the meeting included President Isaac Herzog, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Benny Gantz the senior opposition figure who is a part of Israel’s new wartime cabinet.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed what support Israel would require. Schumer in his post on X stated that he would be leading the efforts to provide Israel with all the necessary support in order to defend itself against the recent attack.
