(FeaturedNews.com) – On Monday, it was reported that Trump’s lawyers met with federal prosecutors to discuss the Department of Justice investigation into the handling of classified documents after Trump left the White House.

CBS News was the first to report that Lindsey Halligan, James Trusty, and John Rowley, Trump’s attorneys, had been spotted at the federal courthouse in D.C. Many believe that prosecutors are approaching making a decision in the handling of this case.

Last month, Trump’s lawyers had also requested for a meeting with the prosecutors to be arranged, in which they had argued that Trump was “baselessly investigated in such an outrageous and unlawful fashion.” For this reason, they requested a meeting through a letter sent on May 23, in which they could discuss the “ongoing injustice” that prosecutors were perpetuating through their investigation of that case.

Special counsel Jack Smith has been overseeing the investigation into Trump’s handling of material since November. The case has now become more complicated as there are also efforts to examine whether Trump had attempted to obstruct the government from retrieving the documents requested by the National Archives.

As part of the investigation, many witnesses from Trump’s circle have been called in for interviews. Last month, it was also reported by CNN that prosecutors had gained access to a recording in which Trump speaks about one of the classified documents he has in his possession and about how he cannot show it to the two authors he is speaking to because they did not have the necessary security clearance. This contradicts his previous claims about the material being declassified before he moved them to his Mar-a-Lago home.
