(FeaturedNews.com) – Former President Donald Trump stated that it was “selective prosecution” following the release of the report by the Department of Justice Special Counsel where he did not recommend charges against President Biden despite finding he had “willfully” withheld classified documents after leaving the White House.
On Thursday, Special Counsel Robert Hur put out a 388-page report which was the result of an investigation into the way that the classified documents dating back to Biden’s time as Vice President in the Obama administration had ended up in his old office in Washington D.C., and in his Delaware home.
Trump has repeatedly tried to draw a connection between the investigation into Biden and his case after he was charged by the Department of Justice for mishandling the classified documents that were recovered from his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida. Trump is facing a series of charges, including some under the Espionage Act, which are related to the mishandling of the documents and the allegations that he had obstructed justice from recovering the documents in question. The former President has pleaded not guilty to all charges in this case.
In his statement, Trump claims that Biden’s case was much more severe than his own case had been. He further argued that he had cooperated a lot more than Biden had with the investigations.
In the report, it is stated that based on the investigation, which has lasted for around a year, President Biden had “willfully retained and disclosed classified materials” even after he left his post as the vice President and was supposed to be a private citizen.
However, in the report’s conclusion, it was also noted that Biden was not established to be guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
