(FeaturedNews.com) – On Sunday, former President Trump stated that Sidney Powell had “never” been his attorney. This statement was made only days after Powell made a plea deal in the election interference case in Georgia.
Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to state that Powell had never acted as his attorney regardless of what the “fake news” was stating. He added that no one had reached out to ask the Trump Campaign about Powell.
Trump, in his comments, also praised Powell for her performance as the representative of Michael Flynn, a former national security adviser who was targeted in the investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller into the 2016 presidential election. As he said, Powell had done a “valiant job” of representing Flynn who had been mistreated and “governmentally abused.”
Regarding Flynn’s prosecution, Trump referred to it as “ruthless.” His comments came only a few days after Powell pleaded guilty to six misdemeanor counts in the election interference case last week.
As part of her deal with prosecutors, Powell is going to pay a $6,000 fine, and $2,700 restitution and will be on probation for six months. Prosecutors are also requiring that she submit an apology letter to the state’s residents. Powell was the second defendant in this case to accept a plea deal.
