Former president Donald Trump has blasted the House Ways and Means Committee over their decision to release his tax returns this week. Trump took to Truth Social to say that the committee was “illegally leaking confidential info to anyone that will listen.”

Following a yearlong pursuit, the committee gained access to close to six years of tax returns filed by the former president in November. This is despite Trump’s multiple efforts to have the tax return released by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) blocked. The committee is currently set to meet on Tuesday to discuss whether they would release Trump’s tax returns to the public.

Trump himself is convinced the Committee will do exactly that despite his continuous attempt to undermine the legitimacy of the committee.

In his Truth Social comments, he added that Adam Schiff is once again touring every TV station that will listen in the same way that he had done when he was promoting the Russia Hoax. Trump then questioned for how much longer Republicans would allow this type of thing to happen.

Regardless of Trump’s comments about the committee being partisan, the current Ways and Means Committee consists of 25 Democrats and 17 Republicans. The current chair is Rep. Richard Neal from Massachusetts’ 1st congressional district.
