(FeaturedNews.com) – Former President Trump unveiled his considerations for selecting a running mate during a recent interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo, although he emphasized that the official announcement would be made at a later date.
Speaking on “Sunday Morning Futures,” Trump stressed the paramount importance of choosing a running mate who possesses the qualities necessary to assume the presidency in the event of an emergency. Bartiromo inquired about the criteria for his selection, to which Trump responded, “It has to be someone who can be an effective president. You always have to think about that, because in unforeseen circumstances, anyone can find themselves in that position. That’s the top priority.”
Pressing further, Bartiromo asked, “Do you have a specific individual in mind?” Trump, maintaining his characteristic confidence, replied, “I have a plethora of talented individuals and innovative ideas in mind. I engage in discussions with various people to explore the possibilities.”
Notably, Trump mentioned his conversation with South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, indicating his belief that Scott could be a more formidable candidate as his running mate. “When I observed Tim Scott,” Trump remarked, “he was undoubtedly competent, but he possessed a modest demeanor. However, in recent weeks, I witnessed his unwavering support and defense of my principles. I thought to myself, ‘He may serve my cause better than his own.'”
The former President also commended South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, who had openly stated that she would not run against Trump due to her belief that she couldn’t defeat him. Trump lauded her loyalty and dedication.
Regarding reports of outreach to independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump categorically denied these claims, asserting that such interactions “never transpired” during the early stages of the campaign season.
