(FeaturedNews.com) – Former President Trump announced on Tuesday that he would be looking to remove birthright citizenship for illegal immigrants in the event that he manages to win back the White House in 2024.
Trump stated that upon winning office, one of the first things he is going to do is issue an executive order that would call for action from federal officials. In this proposal from Trump, the children of those who illegally migrated would not be granted citizenship, no matter where they were born.
In a video posted on Twitter, Trump stated that President Biden has allowed a record-breaking numbers of illegal immigrants to enter the U.S. He added that this situation would only get worse if action is not taken, stating that those who are already here illegally, are going to have children and essentially multiply the already rampant issue. This he claimed was a “reward” for those who broke the nation’s laws.
Trump added that the policy that is currently in place essentially works as an aid for illegal immigration. During the Biden administration, there was a surge in immigration across the southern border. According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, there have been approximately 100,000 border encounters per month, however, at the moment, the agency appears to be tracking more than 200,000 encounters per month.
Trump concluded by stating that his potential executive order would also crack down on “birth tourism,” which is a practice often used by pregnant foreigners who choose to travel to the United States in the latter stages of pregnancy in order to have their child born in the country and get citizenship.
