A new video has left the internet roaring with laughter, despite the fact that a man was probably crushed to have crashed their expensive Mercedes-Benz into another car.
The video was originally shared on TikTok on Tuesday and shows a car owner by the username @Graemewatson481, who is trying to fit his car into a parking space while using the park-assist feature. However, his new vehicle appeared to have a different idea about how that feature should be used, since it ends up crashing into a car parked nearby.
While artificial intelligence is by no means perfect, it usually does not lead to a car crashing into another. The Mercedes-Benz website specifically notes that the remote parking assist feature does automatic maneuvering which allows it to get in and out of many parking spaces. However, they also say that the driver should be supervising their car as it is parking.
Since its posting, the clip of the crush has garnered over 2.9 million views and even acquired around 67,100 likes in less than a day.
One user named Calum McBeath noted that “This happened to me, I sued merc.” Another user noted how it is park assist and not self-park, meaning that the user might need to brake or maneuver as necessary in order to successfully park.
