The moment was captured during the live broadcast and has been featured on multiple channels.
Many have taken to social media to discuss whether or not this was a normal encounter. Those on both TikTok and Twitter are discussing the clip which has now been turned into a meme with the song “Let’s Get It On” by Marvin Gaye playing in the background while the kiss occurs.
Cabot Phillips, a reporter, took to Twitter to ask whether people considered a kiss on the lips a normal greeting. Since its posting, the video has reached more than 470,000 views, and mostly everyone agrees this was by no means normal. However, many also took this moment and started joking about it.
Ryan Doge joked that Doug was simply “her work husband,” while Ken Coleman, an author and radio host, simply said that he had questions.
One Twitter user pointed out that the two probably just forgot where they were for a second.
The pandemic was also brought up by Alex Lorusso, a writer at the Benny Report, questioning why they had a pandemic emergency until May if this is how the two greeted each other.
