VIDEO: Hungry Customer Leaves Restaurant With New Job

A hungry customer who heard that Popeyes would not be able to open on time due to being short-staffed took it upon herself to fix the problem.

In a video that was shared last week on TikTok and has already amassed 1.3 million views, two women are told that Popeyes would not open until 11 am.

One of the women said that on their website the opening time was 10 o’clock, but the employee informs her that due to being short staffed, they would now be opening at 11.

One of the customers then said “Can I have a job then? ‘Cause I’m hungry.”

The employee said yes. They then proceeded to have an interview before the woman went back to her friend’s car with the new Popeyes uniform. She then said she got the job and she started Monday at 8 o’clock.

The woman had also gotten free food after finishing the interview. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the restaurant industry has been suffering from a large staffing shortage.

Eating and drinking according to the latest reports are still down 5.1 percent from their pre-pandemic levels. According to a recent survey, two out of three restaurants also said that they did not have enough employees to satisfy customer demands.

Currently, job openings are also difficult to field as there are many job openings and too few employees to fill them all. In the U.S. there are 11.2 million job openings, and the professional and business services, health care and social assistance sectors each have around 2 million vacancies.
