(FeaturedNews.com) – Former Vice President Mike Pence was introduced by NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre at the annual National Rifle Association (NRA) convention on Friday afternoon. Following his introduction, loud boos could be heard from the crowd with many people trying to show their discontent and dislike towards Pence.
However, there were those in the crowd who cheered and applauded for Pence in an attempt to drown out the booing. Pence started his speech by saying “Well hello NRA.” Even this statement was met with more boos.
Still, a member of the crowd shouted above the boos, “We love you Mike!”
This statement received a response from Pence who responded “I love you too,” causing the audience to start laughing.
Former President Donald Trump also spoke during the convention a bit later in the day. During his speech, he made a joke about Pence and the boos that he had received from the crowd. As he said, “I hope you gave Pence a good warm approval.” This was met with many members of the crowd booing once again.
Trump then defended Pence temporarily saying that “He’s a good man.” However, he then proceeded to state that he heard that during his appearance he had it “very rough.”
Pence’s popularity within the Republican party has dwindled following the certification of the 2020 presidential election results after the Jan. 6, Capitol riot which was led by Trump supporters. Trump has repeatedly alleged without evidence that the election had been stolen and that there was widespread fraud which led to President Biden winning.
