(FeaturedNews.com) – A woman in California has gone viral over her 22-year friendship with an African tortoise that can live up to 100 years. Caitlin Doran has been sharing videos on TikTok with Tiptoe, her 22-year-old pet tortoise that she received as a gift for Christmas when she was 7 years old.
During an interview with Fox News Digital, she revealed that she had asked Santa to bring her an African tortoise and that Santa had granted her wish. As she said, she doesn’t know whether at the time she just enjoyed the attention she was receiving from having a unique animal, or whether she just wanted to have a pet that she would spend a lot of time with.
When Doran first got Tiptoe, he had been able to fit in her hand, however, at 22 years old, he is now a 175-pound reptile.
As she shared, having a tortoise was a learning process, as each one is so different. This is why it is important to learn each individual pet’s symbols.
She added that the “tortoise community” online had also been very important in helping her learn more about her pet, and figure out what the best way of navigating life in Los Angeles was.
As part of her routine, Doran takes the tortoise on walks around her block, which is only one mile but requires over 40 minutes to complete.
Doran has also been sharing this routine online with viewers and while there are some planned videos many of them are natural as Tiptoe cannot be easily directed.
Happy Tuesday 💕🐢
