(FeaturedNews.com) – Many Seattle police officers were stung by wasps while chasing after an attempted carjacking suspect. According to the bodycam footage, the 22-year-old suspect appeared to have disturbed a swarm of wasps during the chase in the East Queen Anne neighborhood. The police then took him to the ground and took him into custody.

The event occurred on August 13, and in the bodycam video, one officer can be heard stating that there were “Yellowjackets everywhere.” Others also started shouting that wasps were stinging them.

Earlier that afternoon, at around 6 p.m., several calls to 911 were made about a young male armed with a knife and attempting to carjack several vehicles in the area. The suspect allegedly blocked the traffic, forcing the vehicles to stop before attempting to steal them. The Police stated that many of the passing vehicles suffered significant damage as a result of the suspect.

Eventually, the suspect was discovered in a tunnel underneath Aurora Avenue North, but he attempted to flee from the police officers heading into the wooded greenbelt area. It was there that they started being attacked by the wasps.

Eventually, the police officers got the suspect outside the area and took him to street level, where an ambulance was waiting. The officers also gave the suspect a bottle of water b.efore being taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. The officer who suffered a cut was also taken in for treatment.
