(FeaturedNews.com) – On Wednesday, the White House put out a memo claiming that the House GUP has “gone on a tear” following the House Homeland Security Committee marking up the articles of impeachment that had been brought forward against Alejandro Mayorkas, the Department of Homeland Security Secretary.
Ian Sams, the White House spokesperson for investigations, noted in a memo that the House GOP has continued to push forward their unconstitutional impeachment case against Mayorkas. He further added that it was worth remembering that House Republicans have promised that they would just impeach someone since before they won the House majority in the recent elections.
The memo was originally shared exclusively with The Hill and in it, Sams had highlighted how some House Republicans had pushed forward the impeachment against President Biden while also threatening to file impeachment articles against Vice President Kamala Harris, Attorney General Merrick Garland, and Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
On Tuesday, the committee marked up the impeachment articles against Mayorkas arguing that he had failed to follow immigration laws. This decision has been heavily criticized by the Democrats, and even some GOP members, who have argued that the articles did not meet the constitutional standards for a Cabinet official to be removed.
The impeachment articles could end up on the House floor as early as next week.
In the memo, Sams has argued that the GOP has admitted that their push for impeachment is part of their efforts to get “political payback” and that there was no substance to their investigation.
