(FeaturedNews.com) – John Lauro, former President Donald Trump’s attorney has stated that they would not enter a plea deal in the case relating to Trump’s latest indictment, as well as his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack.

During an interview with CBS host Major Garrett on “Face the Nation,” Lauro was asked whether Trump was willing to consider a plea deal that included specific conditions. In response, Lauro argued Trump was not going to be accepting a plea deal regardless of the conditions included.

When asked whether he was intending on filing a motion to have the case dismissed, Lauro argued that he was “absolutely” planning on doing that but did not disclose a timeline for filing that motion. However, he did say that the motion would be filed within the permitted time frame. He proceeded to argue that this type of indictment was known as a “Swiss cheese indictment” as it was filled with holes. He added that they would definitely be filing on First Amendment grounds and also on the fact that as Trump was president he benefited from presidential immunity.

Lauro also stated that they would be opposing the venue, Washington, D.C., in favor of a more neutral venue like West Virginia. He proceeded to argue that the comments made by Trump about the case being “unfair” are always made in a campaign context. He added that this was the problem with having such cases at the same time as a presidential election.
