( – In California, a suspected burglar stopped to cuddle with the golden retriever at the house he was stealing from according to the surveillance footage.

The San Diego Police Department posted on Facebook that right as the suspected bike thief made an unexpected stop during his escape in order to pet the household dog that had just gotten into the home’s garage. The man had entered the garage in question at around 10:40 p.m. on July 15 and was going to steal a 2019 black Electra 3-speed bicycle.

As the police clarified, this bike is worth $1,300 and is a lot more distinctive than just a regular bike as it has ‘8-ball’ caps on the tire valves, a rear wheel frame, and on the frame there is also an ‘8-ball’ logo.

However, as the suspect was preparing to flee and take the stolen bike and exit the premises, the household’s dog entered the garage. The suspect seeing this returned to the garage and started petting the dog and giving it belly rubs.

He also starts talking to the dog telling it how cool it was, and that he was an absolute “sweetheart,” before continuing by asking where his “dad” is and stating that he should not be leaving the garage door open. He then proceeded to steal the bike.

The San Diego Police Department in a Facebook post revealed that the suspect appears to be a white male in a white and blue hat, blue shorts, orange sneakers, and a gray shirt. He also had on him a backpack that was blue and black.
