(FeaturedNews.com) – Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday during a New Year’s Eve party at his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida, that the reason why his wife Melania Trump, the former first lady, was not in attendance was because she was at a hospital caring for her “very ill” mother Amalija Knavs, 78.
In his remarks during the event, Trump stated that they hoped she would soon recover, and that he had just spoken with his wife who was at a Miami hospital. He added that this was a “tough” situation but that she was sending “her love to everybody” and was sure that all those in attendance wished that her mother recovered swiftly. A video of these remarks was also shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The first questions regarding Melania Trump’s absence during the holidays emerged after she did not appear in any of the family Christmas photos that had been shared online.
On Monday, Newsweek reported that according to a close source, it was no surprise that Melania Trump, who is devoted to her family, had spent her holidays tending to her mother.
Melania’s last public appearance was on Dec. 15 when she spoke during the National Archives naturalization ceremony. Before that, she had attended former first lady Rosalynn Carter’s funeral on Nov. 29.
Last week, a Page Six report noted that ahead of the 2024 Republican primary nomination she would be increasing her public appearances as a means of supporting the former President.
