(FeaturedNews.com) – The Secret Service is starting to prepare for the possibility that former President Donald Trump could face jail time by Judge Juan Merchan after he violated his gag order. Prosecutors are currently only looking for Trump to be fined in relation to the gag order.
The law states that the Secret Service is required to protect Biden, which is why they are now preparing for the possibility that Merchan could rule that he needed to go to short-term confirmation. On Tuesday the contempt hearing was held, but Merchan has not yet announced his decision. Still, he has the option of issuing it at any time.
Prosecutors have argued that Trump had repeatedly violated the gag order that blocks him from attacking jurors, witnesses, and anyone else involved in the case, excluding Democrat Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Trump, who is currently involved in a criminal case in New York, is facing a total of 34 counts of falsifying business records in order to hide a hush money payment ahead of the 2016 presidential election.
Chris Conroy, the assistant Manhattan District Attorney, had stated that they would not be looking for an incarceration penalty right now, despite the defendant trying to angle for that to be the case.
On Wednesday, Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social to argue that the gag order was unconstitutional and that his right to respond had been taken away. He also claimed that the trial was rigged and that it should not have been allowed to take place, as every legal expert had stated that the claims were “bogus” and there was no crime.
