(FeaturedNews.com) – On a recent segment of “CNN This Morning,” CNN host Kasie Hunt commented on the loyalty of former President Donald Trump’s supporters, suggesting that they might have defended O.J. Simpson during his infamous 1990s murder trial if the circumstances were similar today.

O.J. Simpson, the once-celebrated NFL star, passed away on Wednesday after a battle with cancer, as confirmed by his family. He was famously acquitted in a highly contentious trial for the 1994 murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, despite widespread belief in his guilt.

During the discussion, GOP strategist Sarah Longwell noted parallels between the cultural impact of the Simpson trial and the current political climate surrounding Trump. She remarked that both Simpson and Trump have managed to portray themselves as victims in their respective high-profile ordeals, which has resonated deeply with their supporters.

Hunt highlighted the intersection of media and public perception by showing the front page of The New York Post, which declared Simpson’s death with the headline, “Real Killer is Dead: Football star, actor, murderer, liar, O.J. Simpson, 76.” She remarked that the headline seemed like a political statement from the 90s, and speculated whether Trump’s supporters would have rallied behind Simpson if the trial occurred under today’s political dynamics.

In related news, a New York judge recently denied Trump’s request to delay his upcoming trial in a case brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, involving allegations of falsifying business records to conceal hush-money payments during the 2016 presidential campaign. Bragg has indicted Trump on 34 counts, to which Trump has pleaded not guilty, asserting that the records were falsified to hide damaging information from voters. The trial is set to begin next month, adding another chapter to the ongoing legal and political saga surrounding the former president.
