(FeaturedNews.com) – Amal Clooney, the wife of actor George Clooney, was one of the experts who advised the International Criminal Court (ICC) in its pursuit of arrest warrants for alleged war crimes committed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.
Clooney was asked to assist Karim Khan, the ICC’s chief prosecutor, with evaluating evidence regarding the suspected crimes against humanity and war crimes committed in Israel and Gaza since the October 7 Hamas attack.
In a statement released on the Clooney Foundation for Justice website, Amal Clooney, 46, revealed she agreed to join “a panel of international legal experts” who served as advisors for the ICC.
According to Clooney’s statement, the ICC had “unanimously” concluded that it had “reasonable grounds” to believe Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif, and Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh had “committed war crimes and crimes against humanity” which included murder, “crimes of sexual violence” and hostage-taking.
Clooney also revealed the ICC had concluded the war crimes committed by Israel included murder, extermination, persecution, and “starvation as a method of warfare.”
She added in her statement that she could “never accept that one child’s life has less value than another” given her role as a human rights lawyer, sharing her belief that there isn’t a conflict or perpetrator “above the law.”
Clooney then revealed her support of the “historic step” taken by the ICC to “bring justice to victims” in the Palestine and Israel atrocities.
George Clooney, the husband of the human rights lawyer, is a well-known Biden supporter. The Academy Award-winning actor will join Julia Roberts and former President Barack Obama for a star-studded Biden fundraiser in June. He will also be appearing in digital ads for President Joe Biden’s campaign.
