(FeaturedNews.com) – A Minnesota law enforcement officer managed to rescue two men and a dog that were found to be suffering from what appeared to be hypothermia. The deputy managed to rescue them from where they had fallen through the ice without waiting for the arrival of additional resources.

The incident occurred on Dec. 3, right around 3:30 p.m. The deputies had arrived at the scene as captured on the body camera, following a call for help. There they found out that the two men in question and the dog had ended up falling into the ice after they had gone fishing.

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office in a statement noted that a passerby stated that they had been able to get a canoe out to them where they could get into as they waited for the arrival of emergency responders.

Deputy Chris Fjeld opted to begin the rescue operations, despite the concerns and uncertainty he faced from fellow Deputy Curt Grabmeier. The rescue operations started after the arrival of the sheriff’s office marine unit.

Deputy Grabmeier, whose body camera had captured the incident, had been heard asking Fjeld where he was going. Fjeld had replied pointing out that they were suffering from hypothermia. He then told his colleague to wait as he made sure the tethered rope was tied on both ends and got into the frozen lake on his belly. He proceeded to move towards the two fishermen whom he pulled towards the shore.
