(FeaturedNews.com) – A video clip dating back to 2021, which has recently resurfaced, President Joe Biden was calling for accountability for those who had defied the January 6 Committee’s congressional subpoena. The remarks were made in October 2021 when the President was being questioned by reporters on the lawn of the White House.
A reporter at the time had asked Biden whether he had a message for those who had defied the subpoenas they had received from Congress. In response, Biden had claimed that he hoped that the Committee would go after them and would hold those who had failed to abide by the subpoenas received criminally accountable.
A bit over two years after those statements, Hunter Biden, the son of President Biden, argued that he was facing false attacks from the House GOP and that he would not agree to attend a deposition on his nin-count indictment which involves charges of tax evasion. Previously Hunter Biden had received a subpoena from Congress calling for him to provide his deposition.
Following the recent press conference from Hunter Biden, many House Oversight Committee Republicans turned to social media to push back against the “stunt” by Hunter Biden and demanded that the president’s son should be held in contempt in Congress.
Others have also pointed out that in his recent comments regarding his business activities and possibly the activity of Joe Biden in them, the goalpost was once more changed, as Hunter Biden claimed that his father had never been “financially involved” in his business activities.
Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House press secretary, avoided questions relating directly to the remarks of Hunter Biden and instead just stated that President Biden and his wife Jill Biden were “proud” of Hunter Biden.
If found guilty Hunter Biden could face up to 17 years in prison.
