(FeaturedNews.com) – President Biden claimed that he had previously traveled by train or call over the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Maryland. However, as many pointed out there are no rail lines on the train. Biden made this comment on Tuesday during a press conference after the collapse of the Baltimore, Maryland bridge.

As Biden argued, he had frequently traveled by train or car over the Francis Scott Key Bridge. As he noted on Tuesday at around 1:30 a.m., a container ship had crashed onto the bridge which he had in the past frequently used for commuting from the state of Delaware.

A White House official in response to the criticisms about Biden’s statement argued that the President was clearly referring to driving over the bridge during his commute.

The bridge collapsed after the cargo ship Sali had ended up crashing into it. The statement by the White House was in response to a request from Fox News Digital.

There has never been a railway line spanning over the iconic bridge, which was built in the early 1970s and since then it has been used exclusively as a roadway.

The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) noted that the bridge which opened in March 1977 is the last link to Interstate 695. The 1.6-mile key bridge passes over the Patapsco River, which served as the inspiration for Francis Scott Key when he was writing the words to “The Star Spangled Banner,” the country’s national anthem.
