(FeaturedNews.com) – On Monday, President Joe Biden attacked former President Donald Trump after he claimed that abortion policies needed to be left to the states as well as for the role he had played in overturning the landmark abortion case Roe v. Wade.
In a statement, Biden argued that Trump had clearly stated that he was more responsible for the end of Roe v. Wade than everyone else in the country. He added that there should not be any illusion and that if Trump is elected, then MAGA Republicans would look to pass a national abortion ban and that it would be signed into law by Trump.
Earlier on Monday, Trump had posted a Truth Social video in which he had suggested that abortion policy should be entirely up to the states. Abortion has been a key issue, especially since Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022. Trump in his statement suggested that the GOP potentially needed to compromise its position in order to win elections.
Trump argued that in order to save the country they needed to win elections, especially as the country was currently in decline. In the video, he also argued that he was “proudly” the one who was responsible for overturning Roe v. Wade and suggested that this was something that legal scholars from both sides had been pushing for. However, in his statement, Trump did not endorse any specific abortion limits.
However, Biden slammed Trump arguing that overturning Roe was not about public policy. He added that this was about politics and not about Trump supporting overturning the landmark case.
