(FeaturedNews.com) – Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) slammed former President Donald Trump’s recent takeover of the Republican National Committee (RNC) and warned that donors needed to be cautious, especially following the announcement by Trump’s legal team that they had not been able to secure the close to half a billion bond that was needed to cover Trump’s fines in the New York civil fraud case.

On Monday, Cheney took to X, formerly known as Twitter to state that it was no coincidence that Trump had taken over the RNC and had fired a large number of the staff. As she pointed out, he had also installed as co-chair his daughter-in-law Lara Trump right at a time when he was desperately looking for the funds to cover his bond in New York. She had proceeded to warn that donors in particular needed to beware.

Last week, the RNC was completely overhauled by Trump’s allies, starting with the new chair Michael Whatley, and co-chair Lara Trump who had both received the endorsement of the former President. Following this move, there were several senior staffing changes relating to former Trump allies; however, in a letter to RNC members they had also called for the “united operation” of the Trump campaign and the RNC.

In a court filing only days later, Trump’s lawyers had indicated that they had not been able to secure a $454 million bond as it had exceeded what large insurance companies around the world would be willing to provide.
