(FeaturedNews.com) – Democratic strategists have slammed former President Donald Trump after he appeared to nod off on Monday during his Manhattan court appearance for the first day of his hush money trial.
Several times during the proceedings Trump closed his eyes and looked as if he was falling asleep. During those moments, he would also lean back motionless on his chair with his arms crossed. However, the press corps was conflicted on whether this was an indication that the former President had actually fallen asleep.
The New York Times senior political correspondent Maggie Haberman reported that it appeared like Trump was sleeping. She also later told the same thing to CNN arguing that his face would routinely fall down during the proceedings. She pointed out that the former President also did not appear to pay attention when a lower had passed him a note and that his mouth often ended up slackening.
Photographers were not allowed in the courtroom during the proceedings and had only been able to be in the trial room for the opening moments. As such, the moments that are described by Haberman have not been caught on camera.
In response to the report President Biden’s former communications director Kate Bedingfield commented “Sleepy Don.”
President Obama’s former adviser Dan Pfeiffer also shared the report noting that Trump was too weak and old to remain awake during his own trial. He then questioned what would happen if he was in the Situation Room.
