(FeaturedNews.com) – Former President Barack Obama, who is a big basketball fan, stated during his inaugural episode of the “Ways to Win” podcast that he had stopped playing the game almost a decade ago.
Obama stated that almost throughout his time in the Oval Office he had played basketball. He proceeded to tell co-hosts Craig Robinson, who is his brother-in-law, and John Calipari that he had not played basketball since 2016. He noted that the last time he had played was close to two months before he had ended up leaving the Oval Office.
Obama, 62, stated that he had played really well that day and had been “firing on all cylinders.” However, this was the last time he had played as he had stated that if he were to play again, he would have had his Achilles tendon pop causing him to need a boot for half a year. This is why he decided to stop playing the game and has not played at all since.
Obama, who in 2010 had needed to get a dozen stitches in his lip after playing basketball, has argued that it proved to be a positive thing that he is no longer playing. He added that he has had at least 10 friends who have had their Achilles pop as they try to play.
While it might not be in his future to continue playing the game, he has indicated that he has not completely moved away from basketball and that he would be willing to shoot some hoops if they did not need to run up and down the court.
