(FeaturedNews.com) – Former Vice President Mike Pence has stated that he is going to “tell the truth” and “obey the law” when he provides his testimony before a grand jury looking into former President Donald Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results and his possible role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection.

Pence told Robert Costa during an interview that aired on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday that he is going to be telling “the truth” and that he will once again be telling the story that he has written in his memoir and shared with Americans across the nation.

Earlier this month, Pence’s team had stated that they would not be appealing the judge’s order which required Pence to testify before the grand jury in connection to the probe into Trump’s actions following the 2020 presidential election results. The judge had sided with Pence in that he ruled that the former Vice President would not need to provide testimony about his role in Congress.

Pence had previously argued that on Jan. 6, 2021, he was serving in his role as the then-president of the Senate, which effectively meant that he was a member of the legislative branch. As such, he should be protected from a subpoena under the Constitution’s “speech and debate” clause. On the day of the Capitol riot, Pence was presiding over a joint session of Congress in order to certify President Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election.
