(FeaturedNews.com) – Every year, team Oprah daily holds sweepstakes where the gift is each and every item on Oprah’s list of favorite things. This means 104 items total that includes luxurious coffee machines, desserts, and even toys.
This year, retired public school teacher Tricia O’Neill Politte decided to join the sweepstake and see what happened. When she received the news that she was the winner of the 2022 sweepstakes she could not believe it. As she said she originally thought that it was a scam, but a few emails and phone calls later she was convinced that it was actually real.
After finding out that she was the winner, Politte swiftly started planning how she could give out her winnings to Sunrise Senior Living in Alexandria, Virginia, the facility where her mom had resided while suffering from dementia.
As Politte recalled, when her mother had first been moved into the facility, she had thought she would need a little assistance, but within three months she was moved to the memory care unit. There she was treated carefully by the caregivers who provided her with kindness during this transitionary period.
When Politte won the “lottery” of Oprah’s Favorite Things, she decided to share the goods with the Sunrise staff who had been so good to her mother while she was alive. Every single item was gift-wrapped and the Sunrise staff got to open them all together. As Politte recalled, the atmosphere was one of pure happiness.
