(FeaturedNews.com) – On Wednesday, former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), during a Drake University event in Iowa, argued that former President Donald Trump’s federal election interference case needed to go to trial before the 2024 presidential election.

As she argued, it should not be the case that a former President can (allegedly) attempt to overturn the presidential election results, run in the next election, and still not be tried before the next election. She also pushed that the Supreme Court needed to understand that the appeal filed by Trump was just an attempt to delay the case.

Trump’s legal team has been attempting to delay all four cases against the former president using a variety of reasons. Still, many believe that the federal election interference case is the most important one to have resolved before November. However, the case is currently on hold as the Supreme Court is set to examine whether or not Trump needs to have presidential immunity for all actions that he has taken during his time in the White House. The Supreme Court is going to be hearing the case on April 25.

Cheney, who had been the Jan. 6 House Committee vice chair, had been a key part of the probe into Trump’s efforts to overturn the presidential election. As she has argued, despite the former President’s claim, all of the evidence from the investigation is there and they show the reason for the federal indictment against him.

Cheney has also claimed that she suspects that Trump was aware of how damaging the evidence is which is why he is attempting to delay the trial.
