(FeaturedNews.com) – A new video has gone viral on Twitter showing Texas law enforcement reinforcing the razor wire in the southern border following the expiration of Title 42, a health order which previously allowed for the faster expulsion of migrants without needing to go through the asylum process.
The measure was first put in place by former President Donald Trump at the start of the pandemic, however on May 11, President Joe Biden signed a measure that officially declared the end of the pandemic making the order obsolete. Title 42 expired on Thursday evening, with many criticizing the Biden administration for allowing it to expire. Following the end of Title 42, there are worries that border communities might be overwhelmed by the surge in migration.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who is one of the biggest critics of Biden’s immigration policy, announced this week that hundreds of members of the state’s National Guard would be sent to the border to help block “illegal crossings.” In one of the videos that he shared on Wednesday, officers can be seen putting up razor wire in an attempt to deter migrants from trying to cross.
On Thursday, before Title 42 expired, he shared a second video of the Texas National Guard and Texas Department of Safety (DPS) adding further razor wire as a group of migrants had gathered on the other side of the border. The video was accompanied by a caption praising the officials for being the only ones trying to block immigrants from entering into the U.S.
By Friday, the shared video had more than 2.2 million views.
Thanks to the Texas National Guard and Texas Department of Public Safety. They are the only officials in America holding the line against an onrush of illegal immigrants. pic.twitter.com/OpLGEp3tXK
