(FeaturedNews.com) -In Virginia’s Prince William County, election officials acknowledged that during the 2020 presidential election, there were around 4,000 votes that had been misreported in favor of former President Donald Trump. Joe Biden still managed to ultimately win the state.
The county’s Office of Elections announced that Trump had incorrectly received around 2,327 additional votes while Biden had received around 1,648 votes less than he should have. Similarly, the candidates in the U.S. Senate election in both parties had also been shorted, with the GOP House candidate that had ended up winning his race being just under 300 votes.
The county’s director of elections Eric Olsen stated that there had been reporting errors which they assume are the result of the results tapes not being programmed in a compatible format with the state reporting requirements. He added that the attempts to correct this had led to errors being created. As he pointed out, these errors had not consistently favored either party or candidate and they were most likely the result of a lack of proper planning, human error, and a difficult election environment.
Biden had ultimately managed to win in Virginia by over 450,000 votes, and the misreporting issues had not amounted to more than 1 percent thus failing to trigger the recount threshold.
Michele White, the county’s former registrar who was charged with corrupt conduct, neglect of duty, and making a false statement had been the one to provide insight into the misreported figures. The Associated Press has noted that these charges have been dropped.
