(FeaturedNews.com) – In a recent news release, the Metropolitan Police Department noted that an adolescent boy, 12, had been arrested after an armed carjacking that had occurred in Washington, D.C.

The incident occurred on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the U Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue intersection in Southeast D.C.

According to the reports, a woman stated that a suspect had demanded that she hand over her keys. She further claimed that the suspect had an object in his waistband which appeared like a firearm. Following her refusal to give the keys, the police stated that the suspect had left the scene on foot.

The woman, who wished to not be identified, revealed to FOX 5 DC in an interview that the incident occurred right after she parked her car and exited it to head to a restaurant. As she claimed, the boy had run away after she did not agree to hand over her keys. As she said, the whole experience left her “shaken up” and she did not quite know how she should feel.

The responding officers took the boy into custody and discovered that he did indeed have a firearm in his possession. The 12-year-old boy has now been charged with carrying a pistol without a license and armed carjacking. The suspect’s name was not revealed because of his age.

The woman, after learning about the suspect’s age, told the outlet that it was “horrible” and that those involved in these crimes kept getting younger.
