(FeaturedNews.com) – In a recent Twitter post, Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) called for those who commit a school shooting to face an “automatic death penalty.” This statement was made after the recent school shooting on Monday by a 28-year-old which resulted in the deaths of three 9-year-old children and three adult staff members at a Christian elementary school in Nashville, Tenn.
In his post, Scott claimed that they needed to “consider an automatic death penalty for school shooters.” He added that life in prison was not enough of a punishment for those who chose to enter schools and kill both “innocent kids & educators.” He continued by sending his prayers to all those in Nashville who are “facing the unimaginable in Nashville.” He then stated that this was “horrible” and that it “must stop.”
According to the police, the school shooter prior to the attack had drawn maps of The Covenant School before the shooting and had entered the school through a locked glass door on Monday. Initially, the shooter was revealed to be a 28-year-old white woman, who was identified as Audrey Elizabeth Hale, who was transgender. It is believed that Hale had been a student at that school in the past. The motive for the attack is still unclear, and Hale was shot by police at the scene.
Nine-year-olds Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs and William Kinney, and Cynthia Peak, 61, Katherine Koonce, 60, and Mike Hill, 61, were all killed in the attack.
