A new video has gone viral on TikTok showcasing the moment when a driving lesson did not go as expected. Since its posting, the video has received more than 2 million views.
TikTok user @willharkness5 posted the video which was filmed from what was supposedly the viewpoint of the driver. The car appeared to be parked in an empty parking spot and a voice could be heard saying, “Right, you’re gonna pull away from this junction and take a left…”
The voice continued encouraging them as the car continued moving forward. Then the car began turning left, and the voice could be heard shouting, “Slow it down, slow it down…perfect.”
From there the car started accelerating which led to the first voice shouting “Codi slow down!…slow, slow, slow…f***ing hell!” and another voice shouting back, “I’m trying!”
However, despite this, the car continued accelerating and went straight ahead before safely coming to a stop in front of a patch of bushes.
The message on the video read: “Codi’s first driving lesson and her last [crying laughing emojis].”
According to the National Safety Council (NSC), a U.S. nonprofit safety advocate, parking lots are actually not as safe as many think, and in fact, there are thousands of crashes that occur in parking lots leading to hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries.”
The NSC also warns that simply driving slowly while in a parking lot does not guarantee safety.
The internet was left laughing as most people could not understand how it was possible for a student driver to simply forget that all they need to do to stop the car is press the brake.
